Jacopo VITI

Bio

Jacopo Viti is a PhD student at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Université libre de Bruxelles, affiliated with the Centre d'Étude de la Vie Politique (CEVIPOL), under the supervision of Prof. Jean-Michel De Waele (promoter) and Prof. Nicolas Verschueren (co-promoter). His doctoral research project examines how European radical left parties - including Die Linke (Germany), La France Insoumise (France) and the PTB/PVDA (Belgium) - have framed the Russia-Ukraine war, combining discourse analysis of parliamentary and party sources with roll-call vote analysis in the European Parliament.

He holds two Master's degrees. One in European History from the University of Perugia, with a thesis on the Italian left's position during the Kosovo War and the political contradictions within Massimo D'Alema's center-left government; and one in Geopolitics and Global Security from Sapienza University of Rome. 

His broader research interests include the radical left in European party politics, political discourse and framing, and municipal and local politics.
