Bio

I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Centre d’Etude de la Vie Politique (CEVIPOL) of the Université libre de Bruxelles. The research project, coordinated by Dr. Amandine Crespy and funded by the FNRS, focuses on the politicisation of economic governance in the EU.

My research interests include comparative political economy, the problems of legitimation of economic programmes and the social construction of economic imperatives, the politics of variegated welfare capitalism, and the evolution of economic governance in southern Europe and the EU.

I hold a PhD in Political Science from Sciences Po. My thesis is titled ‘Legitimating Austerity: The Crisis of Welfare Capitalism in Southern Europe’ and was written under the supervision of Professor Colin Hay at the Center for European Studies and Comparative Politics. Previously, I obtained a Master’s degree in International Political Economy from King’s College London and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Nova University of Lisbon. I have also worked briefly as an economist in the Portuguese Administration.
