The Centre d'étude de la vie politique de l'ULB - Cevipol, under Jean-Michel De Waele's leadership is very pleased to announce the creation of a new blog: Views from Central and Balkans Countries with article pending publication, short analyses, opinions, interviews, photos, etc.
Eyes on the politics of Central, Eastern Europe and the Balkans
Who are we ?
We are a team of professors, researchers and students willing to enhance scientific knowledge about Central and Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans. Anchored in the comparative tradition of social sciences, we aim at providing a global perspective on Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans drawing on particular cases analyses.
What would we provide ?
We aim at diffusing information and analyses on political and social developments in the region. In times of faster consumption of information, our goal is to provide quality analyses to enable citizens to understand better the issues underpinning the whole region.
To do so, comparison is an indispensable tool. Drawing on our contributors’ knowledge either on single States or on the region in general, this blog will develop arguments about political and social trends across the region. Through thematic files, we will cover cross-cutting issues that drive the region such as European integration, the rise of authoritarian regimes or the influence and interests of the great powers.
In our goal of spreading the knowledge on the region, the blog could host translations of articles and arguments written in their national languages either on newspapers or on civil society websites. We also want to echo the word of the region’s stakeholders by giving them a space of expression to bring their experiences to the rest of the community. Therefore, you will find interviews, conferences and seminars that carry the voice of people involved in the life of Central and Eastern Europe and Balkans.
